2019: NWC will consider Okorocha’s suspension - APC

- The NWC of the APC said it will consider Okorocha’s suspension when the Imo APC tables the matter before it

- Okorocha was probed by the Imo APC over anti-party activities and was recommended for suspension

- Recall that Okorocha had vowed to work for the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, against the APC’s governorship flag bearer

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the National Working Committee of the party will meet to consider the recommended suspension of the governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha.

The Punch reports that the national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said this on Sunday, January 20, while responding to an inquiry on the recommendation by the Imo APC Caretaker Committee.

Governor Okorocha, despite getting the APC senatorial ticket for Imo West constituency, insisted he will work against the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma, in favour of his son-in-law and governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, Uche Nwosu.

The development caused the ruling party to issue a warning to its members against anti-party activities.

Issa-Onilu said: “What happened in Imo state shows that the APC means business. When they bring the recommendation to the NWC, we will look at it.”

The APC spokesman said the party should be commended for promoting internal democracy.

He said: “The party should be appreciated that it is possible to query a governor and recommend him for suspension. When we see the report, we will take necessary steps.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Okorocha of Imo said he chose the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance to succeed him because he had found “honesty” in Nwosu, who is also his son-in-law.

Okorocha made the disclosure while handing over a newly built office complex to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). \

Legit.ng gathers that the governor said he is also supporting Nwosu because the latter is a 'child of God'.
