God's laws were not the Bible as we know it now. At that time, it was education, and education was purely theology. So the Psalmist was saying, 'I have more understanding than my teachers,' because not only do I read, but I take time to think about what I have read.
And it’s the same concept for academics – you read, you think about what you’ve read; that way, you take ownership of the knowledge and pray.

A January 2012 study revealed that religious people have higher self-esteem and better psychological adjustment than people who aren't. Therefore, use an uplifting Bible verse about achievement in school from this list to encourage students to believe that besides their efforts and intelligence, God helps also attain good grades:

  • Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. - Isaiah 40:28
  • Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. - Matthew 6:33-34
  • Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly, we are wasting away, inwardly, we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Corinthians 4:16-17
  • But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are so that no one may boast before him. - 1 Corinthians 1: 27-29
  • But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. - 2 Corinthians 4:7-9
  • Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. - Colossians 3:23-24
  • For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. - 2 Corinthians 5:14-15
  • But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest on me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9
  • Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7
  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6

Importance of Bible scriptures during study sessions

Pastor Seedy also shared insights on how scriptures contribute to academic success, personal development, and spiritual growth. He explained that the Bible serves as a manual to deepen one's understanding of God and enhance the quality of life.

For example, the scriptures I've shared encourage you to work hard and trust God. When you try to live by those scriptures, you become an even better person.
I shared this scripture with a friend this morning, 1 Corinthians 15:10, where Paul said, 'But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.' So, you might wonder, is it you or the grace or the hard work? But what Paul is saying is both of them come and demand my hard work plus God’s grace.

Someone said, 'Pray as if you have not worked, and then work as if you have not prayed.' You put in your best effort both ways, and when the excellent result comes, you can teach people that hard work did it, but you are not proud because you know that it was God’s help at the same time. It just makes you a better person to read the Bible and see your responsibility while also seeing God’s blessing and working on both, doing the things.
I always say all of life’s issues are one of two things: either for me to solve or beyond me. The ones beyond me, I pass to God; the ones within my capacity, God has passed to me. And when you read the Bible, it helps you take that posture. You work hard, which means you do the ones that are within your control and the ones that are beyond you; you pray about it.

Tips from expert

Pastor Seedy concluded that when seeking spiritual guidance during exams, it is crucial not to begin the search only when exams are imminent. He advised that:

It’s like going to battle and realizing on the battlefield that you need to buy weapons; it's probably too late. There’s a reason you have the entire semester, the whole term, to prepare.
Recently, I've been emphasizing the power of habits, the things you do from one day to the next. Those are the things that shape you. So, try not to wait until exam time to get close to God or to study more. Even the things you cram just for exams, you'll likely forget once you've submitted your paper. So, while you may achieve the grades you want, you may not retain what you've learned.
I would recommend that if you’re a student and you want to excel, start from day one, not just during the exam period.

Focusing on God and your studies will give you a lot of mileage. Instead of dispersing energy in different directions, focus is powerful. And when you are focused, it will reflect in your habits. Spending an hour reading every day, or even 30 minutes, will help. Alternatively, after each lecture, quickly reviewing the material a second time, hearing your voice, and taking ownership of the content can be beneficial. If you consistently practice this, you'll be much better when exams arrive.
And, of course, if you've cultivated a relationship with God throughout the semester, it’s easier to call on Him for help when you've already done your part.

Bible verses for exam success teach students that God desires them to experience abundant prosperity and joy in their education. In addition, the scriptures protect them from losing faith as they sit for exams. them with everything they need to succeed.
