- Ibadan-based fuji artist Taye Currency opens up on his age-long relationship with MC Oluomo
- Currency claims he has known the NURTW boss for over 25 years
- The singer also reveals the reason behind his visit to Oluomo after his stabbing at a political rally in Lagos
Since the stabbing of the NURTW in Lagos, MC Oluomo, was reportedly stabbed at a political rally, there were rumours that he had died from the wounds sustained during the attack.
The rumours were, however, put to rest after Ibadan-based fuji star, Taye Currency, visited the NURTW boss while he was still in the hospital. Not only that, Currency shared a video of a smiling MC Oluomo.
While Currency’s action helped allay the fear that the socialite is dead, some people believed he was looking for unnecessary attention and cheap publicity.
To make the record straight, Currency revealed the reason for his visit and why he shared the video that later went viral on his Instagram page.
He said: “I had been inundated with calls from people that MC had died; so, I had to convince them otherwise. Everybody knows that whenever Oluomo comes to Ibadan, he is always at my place. We have been friends for over 25 years and are very close. Because of that, so many people were on my neck for proof that he was still alive. That was why I visited him at the hospital and made a video for the world to see that he was hale and hearty.”
Clearing the air on the allegation that fuji artists are fond of romancing thugs and violent individuals, Currency said: “Fuji musicians are not fighters. However, we are friends with everybody; we don’t have enemies. I went to visit MC Oluomo as a friend. I am not interested in whatever fight anybody had or has. If it was his opponents that were hurt, I would have visited them as well.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa had said that MC Oluomo makes the world a happy place.
Amusa took to her Instagram page to pen a touching note to NURTW boss as she prayed for his speedy recovery. In her note, she explained that people like him are not meant to be bedridden with illness because they make the world a happy place.
She wrote: “Lovely people like you are not supposed to fall sick. It beats me why you are on that sick bed. Your presence makes the world a happy and lively place to live in. My prayers are with you Ayinde”
