Excitement reported across Yobe as President Buhari prepares to visit

- Yobe residents are said to be excited as President Muhammadu Buhari prepares to visit the state

- The state is reportedly also wearing a beautiful look ahead of the visit of the president for his campaign ahead of 2019

- Some of the residents who spoke expressed excitement saying they cannot wait to receive him

Residents of Yobe are reportedly in high spirit as Damaturu, the state’s capital is said to be wearing a new look to receive Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he continues with his campaign on Monday, January 20.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some streets were cleaned, while the Damaturu stadium, venue of the campaign was given a facelift.

The report added that security operatives have been deployed to strategic areas and other black spots.

It also said some residents expressed excitement on Buhari’s visit to the state.

Modu Ali, a resident of Sabon Pegi, said about the planned visit: “We can’t wait to welcome President Buhari to show him our love and readiness to re-elect him for a second term.”

On her part, Hajia Bintu Mustapha of Ajari ward, said: ”APC has a perfect company of President Buhari, Mai Mala Buni for governor and our legislative candidates.”

Aliyu Abubakar, a university student, said: “There is no alternative to President Buhari and Mai Mala Buni in the forthcoming elections.”

The report quoted some other residents as saying the relative peace enjoyed in the state is due to the commitment of the Buhari administration to the fight against terrorism.

Legit.ng earlier reported that thousands of supporters as well as admirers of President Muhammadu Buhari in Plateau, on Saturday, January 19, persistently blocked his motorcade heading to the campaign ground of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

The report said security personnel including the police and soldiers were overwhelmed by the massive crowd of youths including women who wanted to catch a glimpse of the president.

The report also said President Muhammadu Buhari was unable to give his prepared speech as a large crowd overwhelmed security at the venue of his election campaign in Jos on Saturday, January 19.

The president was reported to have taken almost 30 minutes to reach his seat after arriving the Rwang Pam stadium.

The crowd, believed to be supporters of the president's party, surged toward the podium while some climbed the top of vehicles in the entourage of the president.

Meanwhile, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau described Saturday’s mammoth crowd at inauguration of the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari as an automatic endorsement of his candidature by people of the state.

Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was in Jos on Saturday, January 19, in continuation of his nationwide campaign for the February 16 general elections.

The Rwang Pam Township Stadium, venue of the event, was jam-packed by ecstatic party supporters, who kept hailing the man they love and admire so much.
