Governor Wike mocks Rivers APC candidates over INEC’s list

APC candidates in Rivers state were on Thursday, January 17, mocked by Governor Nyesom Wike following their exclusion from the candidates’ list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Wike at a rally in Eleme said the exclusion of APC candidates will allow candidates of the PDP in the state to run unopposed, Channels TV reports.

The governor also urged the people of Rivers state not to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari at the general elections, alleging that the president does not like the state.

He claimed that things were now worse under Buhari as a democratically elected president than they were when he served as head of state.

Wike also alleged that President Buhari does not like Rivers state. He told the people to support the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, if they want their plights to be heard.

He claimed that the federal government cannot boast of one thing it has brought to the rivers people.

Meanwhile, Sylvester Okonkwo, the Anambra central senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says voting the party and President Muhammadu Buhari remains the best option for the people of south east.

Okonkwo said in spite of the propaganda and lies by opposition parties about APC, the party remained the best option for the socio-economic development of the region.

Speaking with newsmen in Awka on Wednesday, January 16, Okonkwo said Igbos are guilty of negative perception of APC due to lack of confidence in the political leadership in the zone, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
