President Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed insinuations that the anti-corruption fight of his government is one-sided, stressing that the allegations are not backed with facts.
Buhari said this at a town hall meeting tagged ‘The Candidates’ organised by the MacArthur Foundation in collaboration with NTA and DARIA media in Abuja on Wednesday, January 16.
According to him, “there is nobody who has been accused of corruption with evidence and we have looked the other way.”
The president said he was being careful as people could not be easily arrested in a democratic government and taken to court without strong evidence.

He, however, called on Nigerians to support the government and expose individuals, groups and companies involved in corrupt practices.
According to him, such people would be handed over to the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), “and we trust the system to follow up the matter.”
Buhari urged the media to carry out intense investigation into local and state governments’ expenditure on education and expose bad governance across the country.
On his quest to return to Aso Rock, Buhari said he is seeking re-election in the 2019 presidential election to consolidate on his achievements in the fight against corruption, insecurity and to ensure economic development.
He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) nominated him as its presidential candidate because he had delivered on the campaign promises of the party.
“We want Nigerians to remember where we were in 2015, where we are now and where we are going,” he said.

Meanwhile, PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubaka has charged Nigerians, “not to allow President Muhammadu Buhari to steal their votes in the February 16, 2019 presidential election.”
Atiku, who spoke at an interactive session with some youth groups, social media influencers and bloggers in Abuja on Sunday, January 13, also lamented that the Buhari administration has wrecked the nation and must be voted out for Nigeria to thrive again.
According to press statement sent to Legit.ng by the PDP campaign spokesman, Kola Ologbodiyan, the PDP presidential candidate said the desperate attempts by the presidency to manipulate the electoral process are all geared to enable Buhari steal votes in the election.
