Proudly African: 4 talented brothers build their own car despite poverty (photo)

- Four young brothers have somehow managed to build their own car despite all being unemployed and living in poverty

- The brothers hail from Ekurhuleni and two matriculated but lack funds to further their studies

- They aim to sell the car to pay for tertiary studies for one of them

Thirty-year-old Dumisani, 25-year-old Nelson, 21-year-old Khulekani and 18-year-old Sandiso Mokoena are four brothers on a mission to overcome poverty.

The four young men from Katlehong in Ekurhuleni, South Africa, are all unemployed but miraculously managed to build a car of their own. The small motor vehicle is ideal for short trips through the township.

One Nelson Mokoena shared picture of the handmade car on Facebook and it has gone viral ever since.

The Daily Sun reported that eldest brother, Dumisani, was fed up with their current situation and suggested the idea to the others. His other brothers could not finish school as lack of funding made none of them could further their education.

Sandiso focused on the balancing and dimensions, Khulekani was responsible for the design, while Nelson did the interior.

Legit.ng gathered that most of the welding job was done by Dumisani.

Dumisani said: “I pitched the idea of building a car to them early last year and they liked it. It took us a year to build it with corrugated iron and the engine of a four-wheeled motorbike.

Their objective now is to sell the car and utilize the funds to pay for Nelson’s tertiary studies. They hope to then continue in the same way until all of them have funds to study further.
