The 32-year-old Chelsea forward, who spotted the dreaded No. 9 shirt at the mundial, was missing in action in France's opening game against Australia, but the former Arsenal striker was handed a starting shirt for the second group game against Peru.
Although, Giroud fired blanks during the encounter, he remained a regular face in the French starting XI all through the tournament.

France’s manager Didier Deschamps used Giroud’s physical presence in the box to unsettle opponents’ defence, leaving his main role to the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba throughout the tournament..
Giroud’s best moment to score for France was against Denmark, but could not convert as both teams battled to a barren draw – the only match that failed to produce a goal at Russia 2018.
But the Chelsea striker was back in Les Bleus squad for the final win over Croatia but with nine minutes of play left he was substituted as France held on to win 4-2.

Interestingly, Giroud entered the record books as the winning team's No 9, who also failed to score a goal, in 546 minutes he saw action at the World Cup.
