Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has been spotted in Spain with his agent ahead of a January move to either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.

The former Real Madrid star was not listed in Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Newcastle in a Premier League game at Stamford Bridge.

Morata's wife Alice Campello also hinted at her husband's exit when she posted a picture of him on her Instagram story showing Morata in a car, with another snap taken of a motorway sign for Gatwick airport.

Wanda Metropolitano outfit Atletico Madrid have been linked to Morata after Diego Costa underwent foot surgery in December, ruling him out for a couple of months.

Barca also need a back-up striker after Munir who joined Sevilla, with boss Ernesto Valverde saying: “He [Morata] is a great player, [but] he’s at another team and we respect that a lot.

“We have to look at it, it’s clear after Munir’s departure we have a space. We’ll see if we can sign a player. We will see if we can, if someone comes.”
