Update: Masked policemen storm Abuja hospital, whisk Senator Melaye to DSS hospital

Masked police officers reportedly stormed the hospital where Senator Dino Melaye was recuperating, carried him into an unmarked vehicle and whisked him off.

According to a witness who spoke with Premium Times, the officers forced the lawmaker, who was on the hospital bed, into an unmarked vehicle and drove him away on Friday, January 11.

The police has however relaeased a statement to announce that Senator Melaye was moved from the Police Clinic in Area 1, Garki, Abuja to one of the medical facilities of Department of State Service (DSS).

Melaye's family members who lamented the treatment given to the lawmaker said they have not been told why he was taken to the medical facility of the DSS because he does not have a case with the security agency.

Channels TV reports that a source close to the lawmaker said he refused to be admitted at the DSS medical facility.

Legit.ng previously reported that the senator, who was allegedly wanted for culpable homicide, ended the eight day siege on his house after he surrendered to the police on Friday, January 4.
