Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state has cautioned desperate politicians against compromising the security agencies for the 2019 general election.

The Guardian reports that Dickson Dickson gave the caution during a courtesy visit by the new commissioner of police, Aminu Saleh, to the Government House in Yenagoa.

Legit.ng gathers that Saleh, who is the ninth commissioner of police posted to the state within three months, was also charged by the governor to ensure that political parties or individual trying to create unnecessary upheaval in the state are dealt with legitimately.

Dickson, who insisted that “crime and criminality have no partisan colour,” also noted that his government would soon launch a security trust fund in order to help the security force move forward.

He said: “This state is so comfortable. We have had a very quick turnover of commissioners of police because it is a very serene place that so many people want to visit and work.”

“That is the only reason I can give for the fact that in a space of three months, you are the ninth commissioner of police. I hope that I won’t have cause, in the next couple of days, weeks or months, to receive another commissioner of police; I won’t be surprised.

“Once again, that is a record that we are setting; but you have seen that our state is hospitable and stable; one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.

“I want to thank and appreciate the officers and men, my friends and colleagues in the law enforcement community, particularly the police, for working with the government to make this state safe."

The new commissioner of police, in his words, promised to form a perfect synergy with the stakeholders in order to maintain peace and order in the state.

He also assured the people of the state of absolute security during the forthcoming general elections.

The governor therefore set up a seven-man PDP disciplinary committee through the state executive committee in line with the provisions contained in the party’s constitution to checkmate unwholesome conducts among members.
