PDP claims thugs are planning to attack Atiku’s rally in Plateau

- The PDP says it has gotten credible reports that sponsored thugs are preparing to attack its members at a rally scheduled for Saturday, January 12, at the Polo Field, in Jos

The Campaign Council of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that some hoodlums are planning to disrupt the Jos campaign rally of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The Plateau state PDP chairman, Damishi Sango, in a statement on Friday, January 11, alleged that the party had gotten credible reports that sponsored thugs were preparing to harass, intimidate and attack PDP officials at a scheduled rally on Saturday, January 12, at the Polo Field, Jos, The Sun reports.

“The PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is leading all the national officers of the party to Jos to officially launch his campaign for Nigeria’s presidency," the party said.

“The party therefore, appeals to security agencies to act accordingly to allow for a peaceful presidential campaign outing.

“We will not tolerate hoodlums trying to replicate what happened on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, in Mangu after the flag off when the peaceful passage of party members was violently interrupted in Mangu town between the Old Market and the Divisional Police office.”

The PDP said it will not allow itself be provoked by hooligans and assured the people of Plateau that it will continue to follow the path of peace and decency.

“The party will not allow political provocations to derail its commitment to the people of Plateau who are increasingly getting frustrated by a ruling party that is daily resorting to thuggery to prove its incompetence and shallowness while allowing the good people to face endless suffering.”

PDP urged the people of Plateau State to unite and vote for it in the coming state governorship election.

Meanwhile, a senator representing Nasarawa north senatorial district at the Senate, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has said that the former vice president and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, would suffer a serious defeat during the forthcoming presidential election.

Adamu in an exclusive interview with the Leadership, said that a humiliating defeat is awaiting the former ruling party on February 16.

Legit.ng gathered that Adamu said that Atiku knows from the bottom of his heart that he could not defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in any election.
