Falz releases new video Talk, addresses ills in the Nigerian society

Music is a form of expression and several entertainers all over the world use their songs to depict the things prevalent in our society.

Nigerian music star, Falz, has carved a niche for himself as more than just a singer. He often criticises the government of the country despite the backlash he might face.

Some months back, the talented star’s song, This is Nigeria, gained the praise and criticism of many who either identified with his message or felt he was tainting the image of the country.

One of the organisations that was offended by the track is the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) who threatened the star because of the depiction of ladies wearing hijabs and dancing in the video. The song was also reportedly banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

Obviously not one to hold back, Falz recently dropped a video for his new single, Talk. Just like This is Nigeria, the work also criticised the ills in the Nigerian society.

He touched topics bordering on his clash with MURIC, Buhari’s incessant travels outside the country, the physical fights at the national assembly among other things.

In other news, Legit.ng previously reported that the star sued NBC for banning his satirical song, This is Nigeria.

Recall that Falz had hinted in an interview granted to Legit.ng in August that he would write to the NBC to seek a justification for the ban and if necessary, serve them a suit which he has now gone ahead with.

The court documents as gathered were filed through Falz’s lawyers, Adepetun Caxton-Martins Agbor & Segun (ACAS-Law), on November, 6, 2018, three months after the NBC sent a letter to JODAJ Global Communications Limited in Jos sanctioning them for playing Falz’s song, This is Nigeria and banning the song from being played on radio, along with other songs.

In the letter sent to JODAJ Global Communications Limited, NBC stated that the reason for banning This is Nigeria is that the lyrics are vulgar and in contravention of the NBC code.

The singer, who is also a lawyer, has taken steps in engaging his lawyers, ACAS-Law, to institute an action against the NBC challenging the ban.
