- The group said Buhari has done well in office and deserves a second term

- South-West Frontiers for Buhari/Osinbajo 2019 wants to know why the Afenifere is supporting a corrupt person to be the president of Nigeria

A pro-President Muhammadu Buhari group called South-West Frontiers for Buhari/Osinbajo 2019 has criticised Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, for giving support to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate for 2019 elections.

The group at a meeting in Akure on Thursday, January 10, said Buhari has done well in office and deserves reelection in 2019, The Punch reports.

The group’s public relations officer, Omowumi Adebayo, said Atiku’s promise to change the country is very insincere, and that south west people would not support Atiku’s restructuring plan.

In his words: “The Afenifere is not speaking for the interest of the South-West people, they are only fighting for their pockets.

"We in Yorubaland are always in the progressive since the time of Awolowo. These people are deceiving us that they are progressives but they are not. They are the ones that sold out the June 12, 1993 election, won by late Chief MKO Abiola and Yoruba is known for honesty, integrity and progressivism.

“If Atiku worked with former President Olusegun Obasanjo for eight years and Obasanjo himself described him as being corrupt, why is the Afenifere supporting a corrupt person to be the president of this country?

“If the PDP ruled for 16 years and Atiku was the vice president for eight years out of the 16 years, the party could not restructure the country, what type of restructuring does he (Atiku) want to give this country?
