Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub has been appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as his senior special assistant on National Assembly (House of Representatives).
Daily Trust reports that the appointment, according to a statement by the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, followed the resignation of Kawu Sumaila as the senior special assistant to the president on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
Legit.ng gathered that Kawu, who was appointed as SSA in August 2015, resigned to contest for the Sumaila/Takai federal constituency seat in Kano state under the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported ,that o state, was a member of the House of Representatives in 1998 and 2003-2007, representing Kano Municipal federal constituency.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Nigeria's minister of state for foreign affairs resigned her appointment to run for elective positions in the 2019 general elections.
Ibrahim would be running for Damaturu/Tarmuwa/Gujba/Gulani federal constituency of Yobe state in the National Assembly.
It was reported that she confirmed to some State House correspondents that Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting was going to be her last, shortly before the commencement of the meeting.
