Atletico Madrid enter race to sign Alvaro Morata from Chelsea

Atletico Madrid have joined race to sign out-of-favour Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata on loan.

According to a UK Sun report citing, the Spaniard has commenced talks with Atletico chiefs over a loan deal, even as Morata get more suitors daily.

At the last count, La Liga rivals Sevilla are also looking at the possibility to land Morata on loan until the end of the campaign, but are not ready to cough out his entire weekly salary of £140,000.

Sevilla’s football director Joaquin Caparros insists Chelsea are tough to negotiate with after admitting that the 26-year-old Morata remains keen on the move to Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

“Chelsea would be “very difficult” and "many teams want him".

The report further claim that the Blues are still holding discussions with AC Milan over a potential swap deal with Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain with Morata heading to San Siro.

The Spanish international reportedly prefers a switch to Atletico after spending his formative years at Atletico’s academy between 2005-2007.

Speaking after Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Girona in the Copa del Rey, Diego Simeone was coy on rumours surrounding the Spaniard.

"The only thing I'm thinking about is the upcoming match against Levante," Simeone was quoted as saying by reporters.

"I don't speak about players that aren't with us, only those that are.

"I can't confirm or deny anything because coaches wait to see what the club can do.

"Some players want more minutes, some could be sold by the club, some could arrive. We need to wait until January 31."

Earlier, reported Premier League giants Chelsea are close to swapping Alvaro Morata with AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain on loan deal in the ongoing transfer window.

According to a UK Sun report Blues manager Maurizio Sarri has lost faith with Morata, with Eden Hazard now playing as ‘False 9’ for Chelsea.
