President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are expected at the party's mega rally slated to hold in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, on Friday, January 8, The Punch reports.
Legit.ng gathered that the chairman of the ruling All progressive Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole is also expected at the flag-off of the APC presidential and governorship rally.
Chief Acho Obioma, the director of the Abia APC rally committee, who revealed this on Wednesday, January 9, said the party would use the rally to make a statement concerning its readiness to take over the reins of power in the state.
Obioma said President Buhari had sited many developmental projects in the southeast and he would encourage the electorate in Abia to vote for him in the forthcoming general election.
“Work is ongoing on many Federal roads in the South-East that were never attended to by the last administration in the country. If completed, the roads will improve transportation and promote the ease of doing business in the geo-political zone.
“The President has also helped some of the state governors to improve the welfare of Nigerians through the provision of the Paris club refund, which they used, for example, in paying the backlogs of salaries owed workers. This shows that he is a leader that has the interest of the masses at heart”, he said
He pointed out that the ruling party was running an issue-based campaign in Abia aimed at forming a development-oriented government.
In a previous report by Legit.ng, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to receive former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu into its fold.
According to the report, Mu’azu is likely to be received during APC northeast zonal rally scheduled to hold in Bauchi at the weekend, where President Muhammadu Buhari will be present.
Mu’azu, a former governor of Bauchi state had been out of Nigeria for over three years until December 2018, when he returned and gave out his daughter in marriage.
