Real Madrid shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois suffered a hip injury in training and is expected to miss important La Liga fixtures against Real Betis and Sevilla this January.
The Spanish giants confirmed via their official Twitter handle that the Belgian star Courtois after undergoing several medical test was diagnosed with a grade one injury, the least severe possible, and will be out of Los Blancos squad as he recuperates.
"Following tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a grade 1 injury in the left iliac muscle. His recovery will be monitored," a statement on Real Madrid’s official website read in part.
The Galaticos will tackle Leganes in the reverse fixture of their cup game on January 16 before tackling third-placed Sevilla in a La Liga cracker three days later.

Currently, Real Madrid are fifth on the La Liga log, 10 points adrift of leaders Barcelona and Courtois will play no role in Sunday's away tie with Betis.
Keylor Navas is expected to replace Courtois in subsequent games.
