The secretary of the Kebbi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Muhammadu Sakaba, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with his supporters.
The News Agency of Nigeria said Sakaba, who was received by Governor Atiku Bagudu, announced his defection in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, January 9.
He said: “I have now defected from PDP to APC due to my belief on the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Atiku Bagudu.
“They have demonstrated commitments to the progress of the nation and our state respectively within the four years of their leadership. My hope now is to rally round them and offer my utmost support and contribution to ensure the sustainability of their progressive agenda."
Sakaba promised to mobilise thousands of his followers to ensure the re-election of Buhari and Bagudu in the upcoming election.
He said: “We will help them also in ensuring that agriculture becomes alternative source of revenue generation in our country."
In his remarks, Bagudu commended Sakaba for his appreciation of Buhari-APC led administration.
Bagudu said: “I know you as a good, honest and straight forward person, who cherishes the unity of our state above personnel interest."
The governor called on well-meaning people of the state to emulate Sakaba in order to move the state forward.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Alhaji Dan Musa Ribah, a chieftain of the All progressives Congress (APC) in Danko-Wasagu area of Kebbi state, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with his supporters.
Ribah’s defection was announced by the chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi, Alhaji Haruna Saidu, at a rally in Ribah area of the state.

Saidu said that the former APC chieftain had decided to leave the party because it was not fair to him during his trying time.
