Manchester United have been handed a boost as Inter Milan are willing to let Ivan Perisic leave this summer in a bid to sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Croatian attacker as they hope to add depth to their attack.
SunSport reported that the 29-year-old admitted that he came close to joining the Premier League side last summer.
Perisic has a running contract with the San Siro side until the summer of 2022 after joining them from Wolfsburg in 2015.
In November 2018, he said: "I have always said that [playing in the Premier League] is my dream. In football everything is possible, we will see in the future. Now, I'm focusing on Inter."
Tuttosport via Calciomercato claims that the Nerazzurri may be forced to sell the 29-year-old in order to bring his compatriot Modric to Italy.
Man United could be force to cough out £31 million to sign the midfielder, dropping the value of their player by £17m.
Perisic has made 23 appearances for Inter this campaign - scoring three goals and two assists as his side sit third in the table.
Tuttosport also claim that Inter are looking to fend off competition from their rivals to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
