It has been claimed that Spanish champions Barcelona are in advanced negotiations with Ajax over the possibility of signing 21-year-old Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong.

Barcelona who are the current leaders in the Spanish La Liga are said to have offered Ajax chiefs £67 million and the deal could be completed this week.

Before the Catalan giants joined the race to sign De Jong, Manchester City and Paris-Saint-Germain were linked with a move to sign the player who has played five games for Netherlands.

The attacking midfielder has made 65 first-team appearances for Ajax and his level of performance ensured he caught the attention of Europe’s leading clubs.

And according to the report by Spanish Newspaper AS, Barcelona are now on the verge of completing the signing of Frenkie De Jong.

Should Barcelona go on to announce the signing of Frenkie De Jong, then it will bring to an end months of speculations over the future of the former Willem II star.

Previously, Legit.ng had reported how Barcelona are looking to sign out of favor Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen in the January transfer window.

Andreas Christensen was given opportunities at Stamford Bridge last season is now down the pecking order under new manager Maurizio Sarri.
