Nigeria’s Super Falcons emerge Africa's women national team of the year

Super Falcons of Nigeria emerged Africa’s best women national team for 2018 after beating the duo of South Africa and Cameroon to second and third respectively.

The Falcons, who claimed the Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Ghana last year for a record-nine time, were handed the prestigious prize during the awards gala night on Tuesday, January 8, in Dakar, Senegal.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick received the award during the ceremony.

Interestingly, during the 2018 AWCON in Ghana, the Falcons defeated South Africa’s Banyana Bayana on penalties to win their ninth AWCON title in Ghana.

And at the award ceremony, South African and Cameroon finished second and third respectively, while the Falcons claim the top spot again
