Chelsea star Zappacosta set for surprise return to Serie A this January

Serie A side Lazio are closing in on a loan deal for Chelsea’s right-back Davide Zappacosta.

According to UK Sun report citing Il Messaggero, the 26-year-old Zappacosta, who has struggled for game time at Stamford will be heading back to Italy this January.

The report further claim Lazio could cough out about £13.5m to sign Zappacosta, who joined Chelsea from Torino for £25m, weeks after Antonio Conte’s title win in 2017.

Interestingly, Zappacosta, who was signed to provide support for Nigeria’s Victor Moses in the right wing-back position, featured 35 times for the Blues in a 5-3-2 formation last campaign.

At the last count, he has featured in only nine games this term for Maurizio Sarri after the Italian opted for a back four approach, with Cesar Azpilicueta the preferred choice on the right flank.

Meanwhile, Zappacosta will be looking forward to further improve his on his game, if he finally moves to Lazio, who are currently placed fourth in Serie A log.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi will be handed Bayern Munich legendary No.10 shirt at Alliaz Arena if he completes a £30m switch from Stamford Bridge this January.

According to UK Metro citing Scottish Sun report, Bayern have already penciled down a special shirt number for the 18-year-old Hudson-Odoi, after settling for Arjen Robben’s number 10.
