- Mario Balotelli is edging closer to making a return to the Premier League
- Balotelli currently plies his trade in France with Ligue 1 side, Nice
- He enjoyed a successful stint with Premier League champions Manchester City
Former Manchester City striker, Mario Balotelli, is poised for stunning return to the Premier League, with Newcastle United lining up a bid for the Italian.
According to a Mail Online report, the Magpies could make a gamble with the striker as they battle relegation.
Balotelli currently plays for French Ligue 1 side, Nice, but the club's top brass is understood to be ready to let the forward leave.
Nice president, Jean-Pierre Rivere, has outlined the likelihood of the Italian departing the club, with manager Patrick Vieira making it clear Balotelli is not in his plans.
As such, Vieira has given the former Liverpool player time away from training sessions as Balotelli nears exit.
"I have given Mario a few extra days off to think about his future and what he wants to do,' Vieira said this week. He's under contract here and everything is possible, if we can come to a common agreement who knows," Mail Online quoted the legendary star.
"When it comes to Mario, I want to answer back, or just slam him up against the wall or leave him hanging by his collar on the coat rack, but I can't, as I'm no longer a player.
"I don't want to say something I'll regret. I am trying to be constructive in my comments to him," he added.
On their part, Newcastle United are said to be keen to bolster their attack-line by bringing in Balotelli as they seek to to retain their top flight status.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how former Manchester City star Mario Balotelli took to social media to mock Manchester United in their defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad.
According to the report, the Italian forward Balotelli declared his allegiance for City, moments after the trio of David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan handed the Citizens a convincing 3-1 win over Jose Mourinho's side.
Balotelli who plied his trade with Man City from 2010 and 2013 penned a comment on the club’s Instagram post after Aguero’s goal.
