Premier League leaders Liverpool have been hit with a severe blow following the death of their legend Peter Thompson who died at the age of 76.

But the rationale that caused his death was not reported according to the report by UK Mirror.

Peter Thompson made 416 appearances for Liverpool to sit 24th on the club's all-time appearances list scoring 54 goals.

The former winger was a key part of the Reds' side in the 1960s, and played as the club won their first FA Cup in 1965.

Peter left Liverpool for Bolton Wanderers in 1973 after missing the 1966 and 1970 FIFA World Cup championship.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are currently topping the Premier League standings with 54 points after 20 games played this season and they are the only unbeaten team.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how former LA Galaxy gaffer Sigi Schmid who was known as the most successful coach in the history of the MLS died at the age of 65.

Before his demise, Sigi was said to have been hospitalized at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center three weeks ago in need of a heart transplant.

But there was no report whether he got the heart transplant or not until his death was announced on Tuesday, December 25.
