Man City ready £54m bid for Houssem Aouar after back-to-back EPL defeats

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is looking to add more quality to his team after back-to-back defeats in the Premier League against Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

This follows report by RMC Sport that the Spaniard is set to bid £54million for Lyon star Houssem Aouar when the transfer window opens.

Aouar impressed Guardiola earlier this season, after he helped Lyon record a Champions League win against Man City at the Etihad stadium, before forcing the Premier League champions to a draw in France.

According to the report, Guardiola wants Aouar as a direct replacement for Real Madrid bound Brahim Diaz and also a long term successor for aging Fernandinho.

The Man City academy product has refused to sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring next summer and it has been reported that the club has agreed a £14m deal to sell him to Real Madrid when the transfer window opens next month.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Arsenal have joined in the race to land French youngster Houssem Aouar as a replacement for outgoing Aaron Ramsey.

Unai Emery has made the Olympique Lyon midfielder priority signing when the January transfer window opens.

The 20-year-old has been in amazing form in club competitions this season scoring five Ligue 1 goals and making three assists in the Champions League.
