- Arsenal star Ozil ruled out of Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield
- The German star was said to have picked up a knee injury despite training with the team on Friday
- Liverpool are unbeaten so far in the English topflight this campaign and they will hope to avoit that against the Gunners
Germany international Mesut Ozil has been left out of Arsenal squad that will battle Liverpool in this weekend's Premier League clash at Anfield.
The midfielder, who retired from international football after Russia 2018 World Cup was said to have suffered a knee injury and did not travel with the team despite training on Friday.
Unai Emery's side are currently fifth on the log with 38 points from 19 matches and will be hoping to hand the Reds their first EPL defeat this campaign.
While table toppers Liverpool have gone 19 matches in the league without a loss - as they rank top of the log with 51 points.
The Gunners were forced to a 1-1 draw by Brighton and Hove Albion in Wednesday's fixture at the Falmer Stadium.
Pictures of the Arsenal team arriving in Liverpool did not show Ozil present - but it is not clear whether the 30 year-old is injured.
Emery during his match conference believes the Reds have what it takes to replicate the Gunners Invincible team who won the Premier League title undefeated in 2004.
Meanwhile, the Spaniard was in charge of Sevilla when they spanked Liverpool 3-1 in the final Europa League in 2016.
Despite Emery getting the better of Jurgen Klopp’s side that night, the Gunners boss said he learnt a lot from playing Liverpool.
Emery said: “We played three years ago in the Europa League final with Sevilla against Liverpool and we beat them.
“But look at the process and it’s a very good example for us. The progression is clear: they were out of the Champions League and they are an example for us at Arsenal now.
“We need to be demanding of ourselves but we need time and patience is very important.”
