Shehu Sani reacts after claims that Buhari, relations have shares in 2 organisations

The senator representing Kaduna Central district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the political squabble between the campaign teams of President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar.

Sani, a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), suggested that to end the allegations from Atiku and the reactions from the presidency, the two organisations that were named should come out with a statement clarifying the situation.

"In view of the moral dust raised by the questions on the shares of the two firms now on the scale of integrity,” he said, the two organisations should “publish the full names of their shareholders, to exhale the billows of smoke & clear the dark clouds hanging over the landscape of our nation.” had reported that Atiku Abubakar, who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), raised allegation that President Muhammadu Buhari and his relatives own billion dollar shares in a Nigerian bank as well as a telecommunication company.

Atiku reportedly stated this in a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, one of his aides on Wednesday, December 26.

The former vice resident said the call was necessary in view of reports that members of the president’s family own substantial share in Etisalat Nigeria, estimated at $2 billion.

However, the President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization (PMBCO) has reacted sharply to claims by the team of Atiku Abubakar that the former has shares in two Nigerian organisations.

In a statement received by and signed by Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson of Buhari’s group, the allegation is aimed at tarnishing the image of President Buhari and his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, since the PDP understands that it is not as accepted as it expected. Keyamo alleged that Atiku and his party “are set to release a series of wild, unsubstantiated allegations against the president and vice president including their friends and family members, in the next few weeks."
