- Ayodele Fayose mocks Governor Abdulaziz Yari for asking for a state of emergency on Zamfara state
- Fayose, who governed Ekiti until recently, says Yari will be the very first governor to call for a state of emergency on his 'territory'
- The former governor wants Nigerians to ask the APC-led federal government who is responsible for the recent upsurge in killings in Zamfara
The immediate past governor of Ekiti, Peter Ayodele Fayose, has come hard on his former counterpart and current head of the Zamfara government, Abdulaziz Yari, for calling for a ‘state of emergency’ in the state over insecurity.
Fayose said he had never seen where a governor would ask for a state of emergency to be imposed on his state where he is supposed to be the leader.

He noted that he raised an alarm recently over a plot to impose an emergency rule on the state simply because the All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to field a governorship candidate ahead of the 2019 general elections.
He also asks Nigerians to begin to wonder who is really behind the renewed killings in Zamfara. According to him, the question should be directed at the APC-led federal government.
“Nigerians must now ask the APC-led FG who are behind the renewed Zamfara killings.
“...Is it to achieve the sinister aim of imposing emergency rule on the state thereby postponing gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections because APC cannot field candidates in the 2019 elections?” Fayose said, who earlier criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for refusing to go to the state and instead planning to go to Akwa Ibom made peaceful by a PDP government, said.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Governor Abdulaziz Yari, on Thursday, December 27, threw his weights behind the call by some Nigerians on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a ‘state of emergency’ on Zamfara over alleged security issues.

Yari said: “I am also in support of the declaration of state of emergency if it will save the lives of people of the state.”
