Nigeria police suspend planned parade of alleged killers of ex-CDS Badeh

- The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) announces that it would no longer parade the suspected killers of Alex Badeh

- The spokesperson of the police, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, says five suspects were involved in the killing of Badeh

- Moshood, however, refuses to mention the names of the alleged suspects

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), on Thursday, December 27, announced a postponement of the public presentation of suspected killers of late former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, to newsmen in Abuja.

Badeh was reportedly killed while returning from his farm along the Keffi-Abuja road on December 18.

The report quoted the spokesperson of the police, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, as saying this when he addressed newsmen in Abuja.

Moshood said five suspects were arrested for alleged involvement in the crime adding that the decision to postpone the presentation of the suspects to the media was to prevent other members of the gang from escaping.

“It is of significant to note that the presentation of the two suspects and the three other gang members will not come up today so as not to jeopardise the ongoing investigation,” he said.

Jimoh refused to give the names of the suspects, but said two of them actively participated in the killing, as he added that the remaining three suspects played other roles in the crime.

“The two suspects arrested actively participated in the killing of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh,” he said adding that the IGP had directed the “Police Joint Investigation Team” to arrest those responsible for the killing.

According to him, the suspects were currently in police custody and undergoing investigation.

“The public should also know that the investigation into the killing is being intensified to arrest other suspects who are still at large,” he said adding that they would be presented to the media and the public upon the completion of investigation into the matter.

“The force will not relent and will leave no stone unturned in getting to the root of the killing and bringing all perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice,” Moshood said. earlier reported that the suspects involved in the murder of Alex Badeh (retd.), the immediate past chief of defence staff were to be paraded by the Nigeria Police Force.

The suspects will be paraded at the headquarters of the NPF in Abuja on Thursday, December 27.
