Inter fan dies from van collision as Italian FA may suspend Serie A matches

Football actions in the Italian topflight may be suspended indefinitely after the ugly scenes that claimed the life of a fan during Inter Milan's Serie A clash with Napoli on Boxing Day.

According to a UK Sun report, Italian FA's president Gabriele Gravina is now considering desperate move to end a re occurrence, and could likely call-off all games in the Italian topflight top-flight football.

The report further revealed that an Inter Milan fan identified as 35-year-old Daniele Belardinelli, Inter ultra from Varese.was reportedly hit by a vehicle belonging to Napoli supporters and needed emergency surgery but died as a result of the injuries outside the stadium.

On the other hand, Napoli’s Senegalese centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly was also allegedly racially abused by a cross-section of the fans, no thanks to the violence at the San Siro.

Additional reports from Italian journalist Ciro Pellegrino moments after Inter beat Napoli 1-0, hinted that Kouliably was subjected to monkey chants throughout the game before he was red-carded during the contest.

Speaking after the game Napoli manager, Carlo Ancelotti revealed he made moves to see that the game did not see the light of the day, with Koulibaly losing his cool.

"The next time we'll stop playing, even if we lose the match. I'm very sorry about what happened to Koulibaly.

"The boy was on edge, he is an educated footballer who was targeted.

"Despite our requests the match was not interrupted. I'm unhappy because three times we asked for the match to be suspended,” Ancelotti was quoted as saying, even as Koulibaly summed up the incident.

"I'm sorry about the defeat and especially to have let my brothers down.

"But I'm proud of the colour of my skin. To be French, Senegalese, Neapolitan, and a man,” Koulibaly submitted.

Meanwhile, previously had reported that Serie A champions Juventus avoided their first Italian Serie A defeat after sharing spoils with Atalanta at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia Stadium.

The Old Lady opened scoring through a Berat Djimsiti own goal after trying to clear out Alex Sandro's cross in the second minute of the encounter.

Duvan Zapata leveled parity for the home team in the 24th minute through a cool finish from the edge of the box with an assist from Papu Gomez.

Zapata netted his second of the match in the 56th minute to put the hosts ahead for the first time in the game.
