APGA sensitises electorate on how to defend their votes in 2019 elections

- The Nasarawa chapter of the APGA says electorate in the state have been sensitised on how to defend their votes during the forthcoming elections

- According to the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the state, Labaran Maku, electorate are ready to defend their votes across the state in 2019

- Maku says only few people defended their votes in 2015, adding that the people have been lectured and sensitised on how to vote and defend their votes

The gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa state, Labaran Maku, has said APGA has sensitised electorate across the state how to defend their votes during the 2019 general elections.

Maku, a former minister of information, made this known on Thursday, December 27, while speaking with journalists in Wakama, Akun development area of the state, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Legit.ng gathers that Maku, who is also the national secretary of APGA, said that with the awareness created by the party, electorate were ready to defend their votes across the state in 2019.

He said: “Awareness among the electorate across the state has increased and they are ready to defend their votes, to avoid election rigging in 2019.

“In 2015, only few people defended their votes, but now, they have been lectured and sensitised on how to vote and defend their votes.

“Anybody planning to rig election, I am sorry for that person as there is no more room for election riggers in 2019.”

The former minister, who promised to prioritise workers’ welfare, education, health and infrastructural development among others, if elected, urged his supporters to work tirelessly for the victory of the party at all levels in 2019.

The APGA governorship candidate advised his supporters, the people of the state and Nigerians to live in peace and respect constituted authorities, irrespective of affiliations.

He added: “Let us pray for peaceful election, reduce poverty to the barest minimum, wanton killings, destruction, general insecurity, economic hardship and hunger in our land.”

Legit.ng previously reported that at its rally in Ilorin on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against helping the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the 2019 general elections.

The chairman of the opposition party, Prince Uche Secundus, made the statement when he was addressing a legion of PDP supporters present at the presidential rally in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state.

Secondus warned INEC against incurring the wrath of Nigerians, adding that the party would resist attempt to rig election as it was done in Osun and Ekii states.

He said: “Don’t bother about the INEC, they can no longer rig. I want to warn INEC that it rigged and escaped all the previous elections. The 2019 elections, you cannot escape if you rig unless you want to cause crisis in Nigeria."
