A group of concerned citizens of Zamfara state have called on the federal government to declare a state of emergency in the state.
The group lamented that in the last few years, Zamfara has been subjected to massacres and the killing of thousands of innocent citizens, mainly rural folks.
According to Senator Saidu Dansadau, a leader of the group calling for a state of emergency and a governorship candidate in the state, President Buhari should embark on the move to rescue the state from bloodletting.
He argued that the crisis in Zamfara today is “beyond the knowledge of every individual, and unless something positively is done, no one knows where finally the state will find itself in.”
The group noted that the brutality with which these attacks are carried out are unprecedented in recent times in any part of Nigeria, Leadership reports.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the acting governor of Zamfara state, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji expressed concern over the resurgence of banditry in the state, saying the state governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari would soon be in the country.
He made the remark when he separately received the minister of interior, retired Lt. – Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar at the Government House, Gusau on Wednesday.
Dambazau and Abubakar were in the state in connection with the fresh attack in the state by bandits.

He said: “My governor will soon be in the country and to the state because he has been terribly devastated by the resurgence of banditry when we were just feeling the hoodlums had been defeated and peace had been restored to the state.”
