Following the clash that ensued between loyalists of the Senate president, Senator Bukola Saraki, and the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, during an annual fundraising ceremony, the governor of the state, Ahmed Abdulfatah has described the situation as unfortunate.
Vanguard reports that the governor, reacting to the situation that led to the destruction of candidates posters, said the vandalization of billboards belonging to political parties and their candidates in the state by unknown persons will not be accepted in the state.
Legit.ng gathers that the fracas ensued when Abdulrazaq was invited to the podium to announce his donation, a development that did not go down well with the supporters of the Senate president, who clashed with the supporters of the APC's candidate.
Reports indicated that the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, was quickly ushered out of the event when it was getting messier.
The aftermath of the clash later resulted into a situation that led the two warring parties to destroy candidates' billboards at strategic locations.
But in a reaction as the chief security of the state, Governor Ahmed raised an eyebrow at the development in a statement by the senior special assistant on media and communications, Muyideen Akorede.
