Real Madrid star Luka Modric is now expected to end the year 2018 as one the most successful players after being named as the Croatian sportsman of the year.
The 33-year-old midfielder has been impressive this year for his club and country winning the Champions League title with Real Madrid.
He ended a decade of domination by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the world player of the year awards.
Modric also for the first time in the history of Croatia steered his national team to the final of the 2018 World Cup in Russis losing against France in the final.
He also recently helped Real Madrid to win the FIFA Club World Cup title in the United Arab Emirates beating Al Ain in the final.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that Luka Modric could be facing the exit doors at Real Madrid when the January transfer window opens.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric was named the winner of the 2018 Ballon d'Or award beating Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo in Paris on Monday night, December 3.
This will be the first time since 2008 that another player will defeat the duo of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the Ballon d'Or award.
