Pep Guardiola has stated clearly that his wards have to recover mentally after losing against Leicester City

- He added that Manchester City stars are now doubting themselves about winning the Premier League title this season

- The Citizens are occupying third position on the EPL table with 44 points and they are seven points behind Liverpool

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has explained that his players have started to doubt themselves about the possibility of retaining the Premier League title this season.

This comes after the Citizens were beaten on Wednesday, December 26, by former Premier League champions Leicester City.

City's defeat against Leicester was their third loss this season in the EPL in four games and it left them seven points behind unbeaten leaders Liverpool.

“We lost again, we have to accept the reality and come back as soon as possible to win again. We have to try to win again for our mood , for our confidence and desire and confidence to play.

“We have to recover mentally and what we are as a team.

“The fact is we lost three games in four and the last two and if you want to be real contenders you have to win again.

“Now we will have doubts and what you have to do is change dynamics to win games and make a good performance.

“But the joy, the pleasure is in the recent past and I will never doubt our guys. I don't forget who we are.

“I have to reflect what the team needs and what I have to do to help the players to come back and try to win again,'' Guardiola explained according to UK Mirror.

Earlier, had reported how Manchester City suffered their third Premier League defeat on Boxing Day following their 2-1 defeat to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Portugal international Bernardo Silva opened scoring for the visitors in the 14th minute after carefully putting the back at the back of Kasper Schmeichel's net.
