As Christians celebrate Christmas on Tuesday, December 25, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to think about soldiers on the battlefront against Boko Haram insurgents.
Legit.ng gathers that Atiku took to his official Twitter page on Sunday, December 23, to make the call, saying he had a cause to telephone the widow of Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Sakaba, one of the 44 soldiers killed by Boko Haram insurgents during an attack on 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele, Borno state in November 2018.
He said he was touched by her devotion & love for her husband who paid the supreme sacrifice for Nigeria.

However, the wife of Lt Col Ibrahim Sakaba has denied claims by Atiku that he called her.
She said she never received any call from the presidential candidate. She also wondered why Atiku would tell lies. She reportedly said: “Why the lies? I have not received any call from Atiku please."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a colleague of Ibrahim Sakaba, a lieutenant colonel who died alongside at least 117 of his fellow soldiers on November 18, when their base was overran by members of Boko Haram, described the army commander as a selfless soldier.
A senior military colleague, who knew Sakaba, described him as a selfless commander.
The officer, who pleaded to be anonymous, said Sakaba “had sometime ago refused to advance for an operation due to unserviceable and lack of equipment but was threatened with court martial."
Also reported by Legit.ng was that the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole was charged to be alert, courageous and more decisive in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists in the northeastern part of Nigeria.
