It has been revealed that Portuguese football manager Jose Mourinho never thought he would be thrown out at Manchester United on Tuesday, December 18.

According to the report by Sunday Times, the former Chelsea manager went into Tuesday's meeting with Manchester United chiefs with the aims of talking on transfer targets.

But he was stunned when Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward announced his sacking during the meeting.

Mourinho knew his reign was coming to an end within hours of losing to Liverpool last Sunday. But the timing of his sacking caused surprise according to the report.

The man known as the Special One did not expect to lose his job with over half of the Premier League season left and with United still in the Champions League.

But some factors contributed to the decision including the manner of United's loss against Liverpool and the the failure to bring Pogba off the bench at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who replaced Jose Mourinho on interim capacity started his reign at Manchester United with an incredible win over Cardiff City.

Earlier, had reported how Premier League giants Manchester United appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjær as their new manager until the end of the ongoing 2018/19 Premier League season.

The 45-year-old Norwegian football manager replaces former manager Jose Mourinho who was thrown out of the club because of poor results.
