Lake rice will be in full supply throughout yuletide period - LASG promises residents

- In the spirit of festivity, the Lagos state government has made a firm promise to residents in the commercial city

- The government said that the locally made grains, Lake rice, will continue to be in full supply for buying throughout yuletide period

- Oluwatoyin Suarau, the commissioner for agriculture, said that the product had been available for purchase since Saturday, December 22

As the the Christmas and New Year festive seasons stretch, the Lagos state government has assured residents of the availability of Lake rice during the period, Punch reports.

Oluwatoyin Suarau, the commissioner for agriculture, said that the locally made rice had been available for purchase since Saturday, December 22, in all approved designated sales centres, outlets and shops across the state.

According to Suarau, among the locations where Lake rice could be purchased were Agricultural Development Authority, Oko Oba, Agege; Lagos Television Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

“The ultimate goal of the state government on production and marketing of LAKE Rice is to stop importation of rice and ensure that only locally-produced rice is consumed by residents,” Suarau said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that many supporters of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday, December 23, in Lagos embarked on solidarity rally to reaffirm commitment to the election of the governorship candidate of the APC, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in the 2019 general elections.

The supporters, who marched from the state secretariat in Alausa to APC’s secretariat on Acme Road in Ogba, said there was no iota of truth in the purported alliance with the PDP and Accord Party as reported in some sections of the media.
