A Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) commanding the IGP's intelligence response team, Abba Kyari, was on Saturday, December 22, honoured with the best police officer of the decade award in Abuja by the Northeast Star Magazine.
Abba Kyari is best known for the role he played in the arrest of the alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans and his gang.
The Borno state born security expert has also successfully planned, co-ordinated and executed major armed robbery syndicates terrorising the parts of the country.
He and 56 others received special promotion for their roles in the arrest of the alleged billionaire kidnapper Evans.
Abba Kyari has received other numerous accolades and awards in recorgnition of his dedication to service and hardline posture against suspected criminals in the country.

Meanwhile, the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, has expressed displeasure over moves by the Police Service Commission to demote about 1,500 policemen who benefitted from the special promotion exercise carried out by him.
Punch reports that among those pencilled down for demotion is the police spokesman, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, and an officer of the Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari.
Legit.ng gathers that the IGP on September 23, 2018, wrote to the commission questioning its powers to reverse the promotion of the men.
