Premier League giants Arsenal will have to splash out a record fee to sign Lille winger Nicolas Pepe in the winter tranfer season.

According to a UK Metro report citing Telefot report, Lille chiefs have placed €80m (about £72m) price tag on the Ivorian winger also linked with Barcelona.

Arsenal have been repeatedly linked the prolific winger, who has netted 12 times along with five assists in the French topflight this campaign– with only French World Cup star Kylian Mbappe scoring more goals than him at PSG.

At the last count, a transfer fee of about £40m was mentioned for the 23-year-old, but Lille chief Luis Campos has now made a U-turn claiming that the figure is doubled.

Interestingly, L’Equipe hinted that Lille were ready to cash on Pepe in the January winter transfer window, with Arsenal leading the race to seal a deal for the winger.

Meanwhile, previously had reported that Barcelona are close to signing Arsenal target and Lille winger Nicolas Pepe, who is linked with a move to Spanish champions.

Gunners' manager Unai Emery is reportedly planning a move for the 23-year-old Ivorian footballer as a replacement for Danny Welbeck once his contract expires at the Emirates.
