England captain and Tottentam star Harry Kane will honoured with the prestigious Order of the British Empire (OBE) award by the Queen after excelling with the Three Lions at last summer World Cup in Russia.
According to a UK Sun report, Kane has been informed that the OBE medal was in recognition for his services to sport, which will see him unveiled alongside others in the New Year’s Honours list.
The 25-year-old Kane, who emerged the top scorer at the Mundial, has been urged to play down on the forthcoming ceremony until it is revealed officially next weekend.
“Harry is overwhelmed and excited about the idea of going to Buckingham Palace.
“Playing for England was one of the proudest moments of his life but to be honoured by the Queen for his achievement will top the lot.
“The last six months have been a complete whirlwind for him, and getting the OBE will put the finishing touch to an incredible year,” revealed a close friend of Kane.

Kane will not be in hurry to forget about 2018 after ensuring England had their best Mundial in 30 years with an excellent show in Russia.
Aside from being top scorer at Russia with six strikes, Kane was present for the arrival of his second child, Vivienne Jane on August with a year and seven months separating her from big sister Ivy Jane.
Interestingly, Kane, who also claimed the Premier League top scorer award back to back in 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons with Tottenham, is now getting set to tie the knot childhood lover Katie Goodland.
“He is a model professional and a role model for youngsters wanting to enter the game.
"He deserves this recognition,” Kane’s close pal submitted.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that heavyweight boxing world champion Anthony Joshua was decorated with the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Prince Charles on Thursday night, December 20.
Anthony Joshua was previously given an MBE in 2013 after claiming an Olympic gold in the super heavyweight division at London 2012.
Dressed in a black suit jacket and grey trousers, the 29-year-old once again beamed with delight on his visit to the Palace as he accepted the honor from the Prince of Wales.
