PDP accuses Buhari of taking credit for its projects

- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleges that President Muhammadu Buhari is trying to increase his performance ratings ahead of the 2019 presidential election by claiming credit for projects his administration made no contribution towards funding and execution

- The opposition party says the current administration cannot point to any key development project it has initiated and executed since its inauguration in 2015 despite the huge resources its disposal

The PDP has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of attempting to claim credit for the construction of a new terminal building at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, which was commissioned on Thursday, December 20.

The party in a statement through its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Buhari in a bid to increase his ratings ahead of the 2019 Presidential election, engaged in a media stunt by trying to claim credit for a project his administration made no contribution towards funding and execution.

“It was derisory to see Mr. President and his handlers, comically swaggering and gleefully hugging the cameras at the commissioning of a project they made no contribution,” the PDP said.

“If anything, like the Port Harcourt Airport terminal building, President Buhari, in his flops, only succeeded in delaying the completion of the project, which concept and construction was perfected by the PDP, including payments to the contractors."

The party said the current administration cannot point to any key development project it had initiated and executed since its inauguration in 2015, despite the huge resources its disposal.

The PDP stated that it was aware that President Buhari administration is desperate to validate its performance indices and that is why it has resorted to laying claim to projects executed by the PDP administration.

Meanwhile, the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said President Muhammadu Buhari will win the forthcoming presidential election with a wide margin than he did in 2015. Mohammed, who said this on Thursday, December 20, said his principal would coast home to victory because of higher verifiable achievements he has recorded since coming to power in 2015, Vanguard reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the minister said there was no real contender against Buhari for the number one political position, saying the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was only interested in whipping up sentiments.
