2019 budget presentation: PDP lawmakers explain why Buhari was booed

- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers have justified their action during the 2019 budget presentation by President Buhari

- The lawmakers, led by Honourable Chukwuma Onyema, said they booed the president for his failure to implement the 2018 budget before presenting another one

- The lawmakers also attributed the National Assembly staff protest to lack of implementation of 2018

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers at the House of Representatives have given the reason behind their booing of the president when he was presenting the 2019 budget proposal on Wednesday, December 19, in Abuja.

Report by Sahara Reporters claims that upon entering the National Assembly for the budget presentation at 12pm on Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari became the subject of booing by the aggrieved opposition lawmakers.

Legit.ng gathers that the House of Representatives members, who welcomed the president with screams of "lies, noooo", said their action was premeditated by the poor implementation of the 2018 budget.

According to the lawmakers, President Buhari was selective in his implementation, contrary to what approved by the lawmakers in 2018.

Leader of the group, Honourable Chukwuma Onyema, justifying their action, said: "We condemned in entirety everything that has been presented, because you have not implemented even up to 10 % of the previous budget, and now you are bringing another one."

Onyema also accused President Buhari of not running the country in the general interest of Nigerian majority.

Speaking also on the the protest embarked upon by the National Assembly staff, the lawmaker said non-implementation of the 2018 was responsible for the unfortunate action.

Onyema also berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers for hailing the president on alleged incompetence and less effective budget implementation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the caucuses of the APC and PDP in the National Assembly held separate closed sessions on Tuesday, December 18, to appraise the presentation of the 2019 budget by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, December 19.

Boss Mustapha, the secretary to the government of the federation, after attending the APC meeting at the House, informed newsmen that part of the appropriated funds marked for the National Assembly in the 2018 national budget had been released.
