Now, bridal makeup in Nigeria comes in various styles, but we have noticed a few patterns that are frequently repeated by many ladies. There are those who go for soft makeup, particularly if their wedding is happening outside during daytime. Others go for slightly heavier makeup for their indoor weddings, while the rest enjoy some really bold looks.

Based on this trend, we have divided our little gallery of bridal makeup pictures into three categories: soft outdoor makeup, soft indoor makeup and bold indoor makeup. Depending on what you are looking for, you should check out the category that is the most relevant to your situation and desires. Alternatively, you can take a look at them all and simply enjoy the beautiful makeup. Let’s go!

Let’s start with this lovely gal. As you can see, she chose to go for minimal makeup that leaves her looking natural and fresh-faced. The light pink lipstick adds a little youthfulness, and the champagne shimmery eyeshadow glimmers in the sunlight. This subtle look is great for those who do not normally wear a lot of makeup, as it is very simple yet elegant and beautiful.

Au naturel is nice and all, but someone might like shiny lips more. For those people, we have this look. It is still very simple and minimal, but the lips attract more attention thanks to the lip-gloss. The most important thing for makeup like this is not to go overboard with the lip-gloss, otherwise the groom will have shiny (and most importantly sticky) lips as well.

Nude lipstick is always a great choice, particularly if you want to add a little extra colour to your eyelids. This way, your look will not be too distracting. You can also add some blush to the apples of your cheeks and personify the famous saying ‘blushing bride’ :)

It is a good idea to accentuate the colour/shade of your skin with the help of makeup. This is a great example of how to do it. Nude lipstick, highlight and bronze eyeshadow work beautifully with the shade of this woman’s skin, making her look even more stunning than she usually does.

Continuing the topic of matching the makeup to the colour of your skin, here is another great look for you. The makeup is absolutely minimal here, no artificial shades or anything, and the bride looks absolutely incredible. It is almost like she just put some lip balm and went out to get married. Of course, there is more makeup on her face than just lip balm, but it is so well done that you cannot even notice it.

One of our favourite makeup trends is highlighting the brows. This is such a great trick, especially if your eyebrows are, as the kids used to say, on fleek. So why not carve them out even more? The highlight under the eyes is also a great choice if you are trying to brighten up your face. With the smoky eye and nude lip, this creates a beautiful ensemble.

If you are not the biggest fan of highlight, you can try adding some blush to the cheeks to add some extra colour to your face. The lips could use some colour as well. As for the eyes, the halo eye makeup seems to be all the rage these days, so why not give it a shot?

Now, before this, we have mostly featured soft peach, champagne and bronze colours, but pink can also be soft! This look will work especially well for the evening ceremony, as the light will bounce beautifully off the highlight and shadow, making you look like you are shining from excitement. In order not to make the look overly busy, it is best to stick to a nude lip.

If we flip the scenario upside down, it also works great, as you can see from the picture above. The baby pink lip is on the verge of being slightly too bright for this category, but the subtle smoky eye reels this look back in, making it a great option for the daytime ceremony.

A lot of Nigerian brides are known for their bold makeup looks. When paired with traditional clothes that are usually also very bright, it creates a comprehensive ensemble. For looks like these, you do not really have to worry about picking which part of your face to make more vibrant, as you can make both the eyes and lips bright at the same time, and it will not look out of place.

You can also try playing with different monochrome shades instead of going for the usual halo or smoky eye. Of course, it should not be solid colour on the whole lid, but it does not have to feature any colours other than the close neighbours on the colour wheel. The lip can be monochromatic as well, as that will create an interesting look along with the eyeshadow and blush.

All the smoky eyes we have mentioned before, even though all beautiful, cannot hold a candle to this look. This is what a true smoky eye should look like: lots of blacks and greys, as if your eyes are on fire, emitting thick black smoke. If you add a burgundy lip to this, you will get an iconic look that your guests will never forget. Teach them what it means to be high fashion!
