- The Nigerian Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) have invited five presidential aspirants for a debate
- The vice presidential debate will hold from 7 pm at the congress hall of the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on December 14
- The presidential debate will hold just over a month later, on Saturday, January 19, 2019
The presidential candidates of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Young Progressives Party (YPP) will be debating ahead of the 2019 elections.
The NEDG and the BON announced the names of the candidates invited for the debate on Monday, December 11.
Channels TV reports that the vice presidential debate will hold from 7pm at the congress hall of the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on Friday, December 14, 2018, while the presidential debate will hold just over a month later, on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
According to the NEDG and the BON, the debate will focus on the issues that matter most to working families; restoring the economy, providing electricity, creating jobs, securing health care for every Nigerian, making and achieving excellence in every Nigerian school and ensuring safety and security for Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a senior lawyer and spokesperson of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo, on Monday, November 26, declared that the president will only partake in the planned debate ahead of 2019 through a collective decision.

Keyamo reportedly argued that President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya did not debate during the country’s election, yet he won.
The Cable which said it monitored an interview session Keyamo had on Arise TV, added that the spokesperson of the campaign said it is Buhari’s war room that would decide if he should attend the debate since it is going to be a collective decision.
