A special session of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari has begun at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, The Punch reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the meeting is primarily to fine tune the 2019 budget proposals before it will be presented to a joint session of the National Assembly.
The federal government is proposing a total budget of N8.6 trillion for 2019, a drop from the N9.12 trillion approved for 2018.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that he would sign the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill into law once it is presented to him.
The president made the assurance at a lecture to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) in Abuja.
Legit.ng gathers that Buhari, who was represented by the minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige, said the bill would address most of the challenges of oil workers.
President Buhari called on oil workers to dialogue with government on issues instead of going on strike while in a dispute with the government.
