We are ready for 2019 general elections - Police

- Nigerian Police Force has expressed its security commitment for the approaching 2019 general elections

- The force, through its deputy inspector-general of police, Agboola Oshodi-Glover, said it has put necessary measures in place for the election

- Governor Amosun, reacting to the police's boast, commended the force for its fight against crimes in the country

The Nigerian Police Force said its men are ready for the security tasks of the 2019 general elections.

The Punch reports that the deputy inspector-general of police, Agboola Oshodi-Glover, on Thursday, December 6, gave this assurance in Ogun state.

He also promised that the force would ensure that the forthcoming general elections are free, credible and fair.

Legit.ng gathers that the police boss, who was on tour across the southwest states to prepare the police operatives on the election, also boasted that all hands are on deck as regards the security of country during election

He said: “The Nigeria Police Force is prepared for the coming elections. We are ready to ensure adequate security before, during and after the election.

"Police will ensure the elections are free, fair and credible.”

Appreciating the efforts of the police, the host governor, Ibikunle Amosun, thanked the police boss and lauded the force for its efforts on security engagement.

He also commended the federal government for its commitment towards war against terrorism.

Amosun also charged the police to be more professional in its fight against crimes and various societal vices.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng, in a similar news, reported that police, through its assistant inspector-general in charge of zone 6, Adeyemi Ogunjelosi, had promised the people of Rivers that the 2019 election in the state would be free, fair and credible.

Ogunjelosi promised that the police would remain impartial in its conduct of the election in the state.
