- The APC southeast governorship candidates met with Osinbajo on Thursday, December 6, at the Presidential Villa
- The governorship candidates said the meeting was private
- They, however, expressed confidence that the zone will deliver for APC in 2019
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidates in the southeast on Thursday, December 6, in Abuja expressed optimism of emerging victorious in their various states ahead of the 2019 elections.
The candidates comprising Hope Uzodinma, Imo state; Uche Ogah, Abia state; Ayogu Eze, Enugu state; and Sunny Ogbuoji, Ebonyi state, had a closed door meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa.
Eze, who spoke with State House correspondents afterwards, said the visit was essentially a private one but great hope lied ahead.
“It is purely a private visit to the vice president; there is nothing unusual about our coming to confer with our leader; just a private visit and we are done.
“The southeast is already APC. If you come to the southeast, you will know that we don’t need any effort to deliver the southeast, the southeast is already delivered,” he said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima, met with Osinbajo as moves to reconcile aggrieved members of the ruling APC in the south western region of Nigeria began.
This Day reports that a statement by the spokesman of Shettima, Mallam Isa Gusau, confirmed this in a statement: “The meeting was part of ongoing consultations and hearings from specific leaders and members of the APC from the southwest.
“The vice president gave an insightful overview of his understanding of the issues in each of the six states of Lagos, Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo with thoughts of possible ways out.”
