Obasanjo inviting God’s punishment for supporting Atiku - Oshiomhole hits ex-president again

- APC national chairman has again attacked the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku, and his former boss, ex-president Obasanjo

- Oshiomhole attacked the ex-president for endorsing Atiku ahead of the presidential election, saying he is inviting God's punishment

- The APC chairman said that the duo will be divinely punished at the polls in February 2019

- He added that Atiku's political infidelity will cause his defeat

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has reportedly berated former president Olusegun Obasanjo over his support to his former deputy, Atiku Abubakar who is the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oshiomhole reportedly said both Obasanjo and Atiku would be divinely punished at the polls in February, 2019. He added that Atiku’s political infidelity would be his main albatross at the polls.

He said this on Tuesday, December 4, when he received women leaders of the APC from across the local governments of his home state, Edo who were at his private office on a solidarity visit, The Punch reports.

He asked the former president to remember he swore that God should punish him if he ever supported Atiku to be president.

“We know there are people across the divide who are fighting back. There is a gang up by those who are used to sucking the system without adding any value but Nigerians will not allow that,” he said.

Oshiomhole boasted that the 2019 election would be a smooth sail for President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC because ethnic and religious sentiments that characterised the 2015 election lost by former president Goodluck Jonathan would have no place this time around.

He said: “The two candidates are from the north and they are both Muslims. People are now going to look at the character. Nobody has ever said Buhari is a thief. But who said the other person is a thief? it was his boss.

“When you are working with me and I said you are a thief, God will punish me if I support you. And when you are confused because your supply line has been chopped off, you now turned around to support the same person. That God that you called with your name to punish you if you supported the person is about to go to work. And HE will go to work in February and HE will punish him thoroughly and the person he is supporting, in favour of Nigeria.”

The APC chairman also lambasted Atiku and Uche Secondus, the national chairman of the PDP, faulting their calls for the resignation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris and the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

He said while Atiku wants to replace the IGP, Secondus is bent on becoming the INEC chairman with the sole aim of subverting the electoral process.

Oshiomhole also reportedly described as prodigal sons, some aggrieved APC governors who have been threatening to work against the ruling party's governorship candidates in their states.

He, however, added that the party would not immediately sanction them for anti-party activities as their main punishment would come from the electorate.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that prominent Yoruba elders under the aegis of South-West Forum had adopted Atiku Abubakar for the 2019 presidency.

The group made this declaration at the end of their colloquium tagged “2019: South-West Speaks” which took place at Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos.

Dr Remi Akitoye moved a motion for the adoption of Atiku for presidency which was unanimously supported. They said they were supporting Atiku because of his promise to restructure the country.
